12th Tow Tiang Seng Distinguished Lecture: Work Stress. Mental Distress.

Still working at 88, Dr R Nagulendran will share his 64 years as a doctor in the public and private health services including Woodbridge Hospital with the crowded clinics, understaffed wards and pernicious stigma. Associate Professor Shefaly Shorey will define her meaning of work-life balance as a mother and an university don who excels in research and teaching. She is an ardent volunteer in the Age Well Everyday (AWE) program. Associate Professor Lee Cheng will focus on the psychology of work stress and how it can precipitate mental illness. For recovering psychiatric patients, adjusting the milieu and calibrating expectations are crucial.
