Singapore MedTech company moves Bioactiv® Matrix from locally developed research into commercial production, supported by strategic partnerships for clinical adoption and international growth
SINGAPORE, 16 September 2026 – Bioactivx, a Singapore regenerative biomaterials company spun off from A*STAR and SingHealth, today announced the commercial launch of Bioactiv® Matrix, following its approval by Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA).
The company also officially opened its new office and manufacturing facility at BLOCK71 and announced strategic collaborations to support clinical adoption, manufacturing innovation and international expansion.
The launch was officiated by Ms Tin Pei Ling, Member of Parliament for MacPherson, Marine Parade-Braddel Heights GRC and a member of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Finance, Trade and Industry.
Bioactiv® Matrix is a fully synthetic, bioactive skin substitute for second degree burn and deep abrasion wounds. It is designed to support tissue regeneration and faster wound closure while reducing inflammation and the risk of infection.
Unlike skin substitutes derived from animal collagen, Bioactiv® Matrix contains no animal-derived materials. Its synthetic composition supports scalable manufacturing and enables its use across culturally diverse patient populations and a range of clinical and operational environments.
From Singapore research to an approved medical product
Bioactiv® Matrix was developed through years of collaboration between scientists and clinicians in Singapore. Its HSA approval marks Bioactivx’s transition from research and clinical development into commercialisation.
Preclinical studies demonstrated near full re-epithelialisation by day seven and no inflammation by day 15. Early clinical studies also showed faster wound closure compared with the current standard of care.
To date, the technology has undergone 6 preclinical studies and a first-in-human clinical study. “Today represents a defining moment for Bioactivx,” said Dr Teo Peili, Cofounder and Chief Executive Officer of Bioactivx.
Bioactiv® Matrix began with a scientific question: could we develop a fully synthetic material that supports the body’s natural healing process without relying on animal-derived materials, step cells or growth factors?

Strengthening Singapore’s MedTech commercialisation capabilities Bioactivx’s new facility at BLOCK71 brings together its corporate, research and manufacturing operations. It provides the company with the capacity to manufacture Bioactiv® Matrix in Singapore and support growing commercial demand.
The facility operates within Bioactivx’s ISO 13485-certified quality management system and incorporates advanced additive-manufacturing capabilities for the scalable production of its regenerative biomaterials.
Its opening follows Bioactivx’s US$3 million Pre-Series A funding round, co-led by ContInvest and Cocoon Capital. The round brought the company’s total funding raised to US$4.9 million.
The funding is being used to scale production, expand the company’s commercial capabilities, pursue regulatory approvals in international markets and advance its pipeline of synthetic regenerative products.
Partnerships to move from approval to adoption During the event, Bioactivx formalised and highlighted collaborations with technology and commercial partners to support the adoption and international deployment of its regenerative solutions.
These include:
UltiMaker – to explore how advanced additive manufacturing can support product development, manufacturing innovation and the rapid deployment of regenerative solutions in humanitarian and disaster-affected areas.
NovaTech – to support the distribution and deployment of Bioactivx’s solutions in defence, field-care and operational environments.
Together, these collaborations provide pathways from regulatory approval to clinical adoption, professional training, distributed manufacturing and international market access.

Building a global synthetic regenerative medicine platform Bioactiv® Matrix is the first commercial product developed from Bioactivx’s proprietary synthetic biomaterials platform.
Beyond burns and complex wounds, the company is developing a broader pipeline of regenerative solutions for wound care and bone defect repair in orthopaedics.
Bioactivx’s longer-term ambition is to establish a new class of synthetic regenerative products that can be manufactured at scale and deployed across hospitals, community healthcare facilities, military and field environments, and regions where conventional treatments may be difficult to access.
Following its commercial launch in Singapore, Bioactivx will focus on introducing Bioactiv® Matrix to clinicians locally while pursuing regulatory approvals, clinical partnerships and distribution opportunities in regional and international markets.
