NTU Singapore Expands Aged Care Technology Program

Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University has launched a $30 million initiative to advance innovations in elderly care.

Singapore: Nanyang Technological University (NTU) has announced the second phase of its aged care technology program, backed by a $30 million investment to develop solutions for Singapore’s rapidly aging population.

The program focuses on integrating robotics, artificial intelligence, and smart home technologies to support seniors in maintaining independence and well-being. Innovations include fall-detection systems, AI-powered health monitoring, and interactive platforms to combat loneliness.

NTU’s initiative builds on earlier research into Geron technology, combining engineering, healthcare, and social sciences. The expansion reflects Singapore’s urgent need to address demographic shifts, with nearly one in four citizens projected to be aged 65 or older by 2030.

The program also emphasizes collaboration with healthcare providers and community organizations, ensuring that technology solutions are practical, affordable, and culturally sensitive.

By investing in aged care innovation, NTU aims to position Singapore as a global leader in longevity solutions.
