Who is This For?
This webinar is exclusively intended for registered medical doctors.
Treating kidney stones without surgical scar
Topic synopsis from Dr Chong Kian Tai:
Treatment of larger kidney stones has evolved from extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL) to percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), but it may need multiple surgical skin incisions and possible renal parenchyma damage. This talk will discuss the new roles for retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) to do endoscopy laser stone surgery without any surgical skin scars.
Advances in the Management of Early Endometrial Cancers: WHEN LESS IS MORE
Topic synopsis from Dr Timothy Lim:
Endometrial cancer is the leading gynaecological cancer in Singapore and the western world. Fortunately more than 60% of patients are diagnosed in early stages and with good prognosis. The standard management is surgical i.e. Total hysterectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy.
In this lecture, I will give an overview of:
- Advances in medical science that has enabled the utility of sentinel node mapping to reduce the morbidity of systematic lymphadenectomy without sacrificing accuracy
- Medical treatment of young endometrial cancer patients who want children
- How molecular genetics has affected the staging and adjuvant treatment of early cancers
