Longevity & Healthy Ageing in Asia

Asia MD_Longevity & Healthy Ageing in Asia (1)

Asia is ageing at an unprecedented pace, making longevity and healthspan one of the region’s most urgent healthcare conversations. By 2050, about one in four people in Asia and the Pacific will be over the age of 60, with the region’s older population expected to reach close to 1.3 billion.

This demographic shift is already visible across many Asian societies. Japan remains one of the world’s most aged nations, while South Korea and Taiwan are moving rapidly into super-aged status. Singapore projects that around one in four citizens will be aged 65 and above by 2030. China faces the scale of an ageing population in absolute numbers, with more than 200 million people aged 65 and above, while countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia are also preparing for rising healthcare, caregiving and social support needs.

Against this backdrop, Asia MD’s Longevity & Healthy Ageing in Asia responds to a timely regional need: helping Asian readers understand not only how to live longer, but how to live better for longer. This content hub aligns with the WHO’s UN Decade of Healthy Ageing, which calls for improving the lives of older people, their families and the communities in which they live.
